This past weekend, my best friend Vicky and I dumped our husbands at the river (relax, they went kayaking on the Harpeth) and we went on a girly adventure. We did all the things I like to imagine Kate Middleton - Duchess of Cambridge would do if she were to have a gals day in Nashville. Basically what I'm saying is that we spent the day treating ourselves like princesses.
Our day was an absolute success so we're here to take the guesswork out of planning the perfect gals day in Nashville. Whether you're coming to town for a bachelorette party or you're a local who needs a day away from the kids, we promise these four stops won't disappoint.
FIRST STOP: PROPER BAGEL
Proper gals need a proper breakfast for a day like this so Proper Bagel was a no-brainer.
If you follow me on instagram, you know that if I'm downtown and it's breakfast time, I'm at Proper Bagel. They have every kind of cream cheese you can dream of and the bagels are made in-house. It's like a little piece of New York right on Belmont Boulevard. My favorite is the maple bacon cream cheese on the plain bagel.
SECOND STOP: THE BLOWOUT CO.
The only thing better than a good hair and makeup day is when someone else does your hair and makeup and it looks good. CAN I GET AN AMEN.
The ladies at The Blowout Co. really know what they're doing. My makeup was impeccable and the beach waves I requested for my hair were totally gorgeous. Here's a selfie to prove it..
Also, Vicky totally busted me taking a selfie..
Embarrassing! But seriously how great is my blowout? I rocked it all weekend. Actually I rocked it until yesterday. Don't judge me. This was probably my favorite part of the day. It was so relaxing and we left feeling fabulous. Shout out to The Nashville Guide for the makeup and blowout!
THIRD STOP: THE FLIPSIDE/12TH SOUTH
If you're new to town, it's important to note that 12th South is definitely where you want to be on the weekends. There is no shortage of amazing restaurants and unique shops. My favorite restaurants in the neighborhood are Taqueria del Sol, Flipside, Josephine and Bartaco. For our gals day, we chose The Flipside because well, tator tots.
The Flipside is so much fun! It's so retro and the color scheme is everything.
The menu at The Flipside features 'Jack's Best Chicken' which is a chicken breast pounded thin and topped with pretty much anything you can think of. There are alot of options but I went with the 'brunch' which is chicken with fried egg, bacon and cheese on top. They also have amazing milkshakes and when Tim and I go, we love to share the tator tot nachos.
When you finish your lunch in 12th South, make sure you make time for a little shopping and/or dessert. White's Mercantile is an absolute must and you have to go to Reese Witherspoon's shop Draper James. It's a southern gal's dream. Then grab yourself a cupcake from the cupcake ATM at Sprinkles or some ice cream at Jeni's and then go home because your work here is done and it can't get better than that.
Or can it?
FOURTH STOP: POPPY AND MONROE
You guys. Poppy and Monroe. Have you heard of it? This is a beauty boutique that uses non-toxic products, yes even nail polish. It's kind of eye opening to see that their gorgeous nail polish selection has 'does not contain formaldehyde' on the label. Um hi. I paint my nails all the time and don't even consider the ingredients. Formaldehyde? Yea that's a common ingredient. So now I'm spoiled and only want to go to Poppy and Monroe when I need a manicure or fresh polish.
The owners have turned an old house in Germantown into an oasis for us gals. They thought of every detail. The decor is to die for!
The manicure I got was so incredibly relaxing and they used lotion with lavender essential oil for the massage and it was heavenly.
Thanks Claire! Also, I had to share that photo because my ring tanline is hilarious.
Tada! Best manicure I've ever had y'all. I highly recommend.
So, needless to say, Vicky and I had the best day ever. I hope you get the chance to spend a day like we did, getting pampered and having the best time together!
