A Tennessee Tailgate

The University of Tennessee Volunteers are my team and I'm absolutely elated that it's finally football season. I wanted to share some ways to inspire your tailgating setup to be a little more Tennessee Pretty.

Get cozy. Make the tailgate your home away from home. Lay out some cute throw blankets and pillows to make it more comfortable.

Use your team colors on the food table. Lucky for me, they make orange La Croix and cheezits. Be inspired by your team colors when you're at the grocery store before the game.

And double duh, I had to make some UT sugar cookies! How cute are they? They were a major crowd pleaser on gameday.

Obviously, for those of us gals who get to go to the game, we need a great stadium purse! I love mine from Packed Party.

So whether or not you're tailgating in your backyard, like I am in these photos, or in the parking lot at Neyland, use some Tennessee Pretty tips at your tailgate!

Huge shoutout to Brittany Wood for these amazing photos!

Easter Table on the Cheap

I absolutely LOVE to host holidays. Like really. I love it. So as soon as I knew my family was coming down from Ohio, I grabbed all of the pink things I could find around my house and bought some of that easter grass from Target.

I had pretty much everything in this photo which is proof that you don't have to break the bank to make a pretty party. The pink cups are from Ikea, the polka dot placemats are from Hobby Lobby and the pink teapot was something that my Nana gave me from my Aunt Wilma.

How amazing are these speckled malted milk eggs! I snagged them at Williams Sonoma and I can't find them on the website but I just got them this weekend so they should still have them.

I did buy these big golden eggs and bunny candle holders at Target. I'm telling you, I spent next to nothing on this table.

I also ran into Fresh Market (my all time favorite store) and picked up some pink drinks. I know my sweet little cousins will love sipping on some pink lemonade before the egg hunt!

How adorable is this little dish?! I also picked this up at Target.

Now I just need to add mac and cheese, deviled eggs and my family. I can't wait until Sunday!

Moral of the story, a pretty table doesn't have to cost much. Just go shopping in your cupboard!

The One Change I Made to My Daily Routine That Changed Everything - and a Jord watch giveaway!

It's Monday. A new week is ahead of us and we get to make the choice to make the best of it, or give in to the winter darkness and binge on Netflix. Now if you're one of those people who just get stuff done without an internal struggle between chores and taking a nap, don't worry about this tip :) But if you're like me and you have a hard time just getting started on things at home, you've got to try this.

Confession time. Up until a month ago, I was giving in to the couch nearly every day in my free time after work and I'd just feel awful all the time. I'd get home from work, put on my comfy clothes, park it on the couch and take a nap. Nothing was getting done around the house and I was in a major funk. Then someone told me to try one simple thing:

"When you get home from work, don't change into your comfy clothes. Stay in your work clothes, this will keep you in work mode until you finish what you need to get done."

The first day I tried this, I instantly noticed a difference. I got so much done! The laundry was folded, I wrote a blog post, dinner was cooked and the kitchen was cleaned. I couldn't believe what I had the energy to do as soon as I got home just because I didn't get into comfy mode. I'm three weeks in and I honestly feel so much better about life. The best part is that when everything is done and it actually is time to relax, I enjoy it so much more!

That's it! I know it sounds silly but it has seriously helped me. You'll have to let me know if you try this and how it works for you!

Now for the giveaway...

There are still a few days left to enter to win $100 towards a gorgeous wood watch from Jord just like the one in my photos above. I was so excited when Jord reached out to me to help spread the word! My watch is lightweight, comfortable and it's definitely a classic piece that I'll have for years to come.

Gals Who Brunch

Last weekend, we celebrated my cousin Brittany's birthday with a gals brunch! It was the perfect morning-turned-afternoon.

I made sausage balls and Living with Landyn's french toast casserole. Both recipes were wonderful and easy.

I also whipped up some coffee punch. Have you had it before? It's super easy too and absolutely delicious. It's a great go-to if you need to bring something to a brunch.

Here's the recipe:

8 cups of chilled brewed coffee

2 cups cold milk

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup of sugar

1 quart of vanilla ice cream

I just brew the coffee the night before and stick it in the fridge. Then right before I serve it, I combine the coffee, milk, vanilla and sugar. I scoop the ice cream into the punch bowl and pour the coffee mixture on top. Voila! Coffee punch. I also put out some reddi-whip in case anyone needs some whipped cream on top.

What birthday brunch is complete without a cake made of donuts?! My friend Danielle stopped at our favorite donut shop here in Spring Hill for these prettys.

I told Tim we'd probably be done around 12:30 so he'd know when to come back home (apparently gals brunch isn't his scene) but boy was I wrong about the time! At one point, I looked at the clock and it was after two! That's how you know you're having a good time. I think the last person left around 4. In other words, it was my dream Saturday.

House Update: The Family Room

We've been in our house a little over a year now and I feel like I've moved every piece of furniture and picture frame about a million times. I think that's just who I am so I will probably continue moving things around until forever. But I do feel like it's finally coming together around here. My main goal in my home is always coziness so our family room is a challenge because it's an open room with vaulted ceilings.

I've still got some walls to cover with pictures and things but that's exactly the kind of thing I like to procrastinate so maybe this summer I'll get around to it. I get alot of questions about my couch and chair and a half. We shopped for what seemed like forever but we found them at Macy's and they're so comfortable it's impossible to stay awake when I try to watch a movie.

Isn't it so inviting? I clearly have a thing for fur and black and white. I'm all about the textures when it comes to throw pillows, and I can never get enough of them.

On the other side of the room, away from the couches and tv, I have a space that I'm still working to fill. I probably should have taken a better photo to give you all a better idea of the layout of things. In fact, I'll do that on my instagram story later so check that out.

Anyway, for now, this part of the room is where my favorite piece lives, an old armoire from my parent's house. It's so pretty and it's great storage! Tim actually started to sand it so we could paint it and we liked the finish so much, we decided to leave it the way it is.

So that's the status of the family room after a year of living in our house. This is our first house so for all of you people who have been homeowners for a while, I have to know, will I ever feel like it's complete? At this rate, it just doesn't seem like it!
