IM MOVING

No, we aren’t selling the house and leaving Spring Hill.

I have decided to move my loyalty to the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

I have lived in the great state of Tennessee for 12 years now and I’ve been to a few games at Neyland but I’ve always waivered a little between my homegrown Ohio roots and being a Vol. It’s just like the moment that I got a Tennessee phone number and got a Tennessee license so many years ago, except more important.

No longer will I say the words “Go Bucks” (even though it will be tough when there’s a Michigan fan around). And gone are the days when I would say “O-H!”. It has to be done for the sake of our future children. We don’t need to raise them in a home with a mother who’s a wishy-washy sports fan. Since I wasn't raised by football fans, I feel like I have the option to choose the team that is calling my heart.

I read in a book called ‘The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People’, given to me by my cousin Patrick (ironically also a Tennessee fan), that said that having a team that you root for can help make you happier. We can all use a little more happiness right?

Anyway, that is all. Tomorrow morning, we’ll be waking up bright and early and making our journey to Knoxville for the game. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. And how adorable is my new shirt from Gameday Couture?! I can't wait to represent tomorrow.

I'm thinking about changing the name of this blog Tennessee Pretty Volunteers.

Okay maybe not.

God bless the SEC and Go Vols.

Our Afternoon in Muletown

Saturday mornings at the Gillean's usually look like this: Tim makes breakfast, I have two cups of coffee and then we venture out onto the winding back roads in Maury county. Ever since we moved here, we spend Saturdays exploring and finding fun spots around us. Tim drives (I'm the deejay) so I never really know where we're going to end up. But the past two weeks, our adventures have taken us to downtown Columbia, TN.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if we ended up in this little town every Saturday. There's so much to look at and really good coffee to drink. If you find yourself in downtown Columbia, or even if you don't, you need to stop by Muletown for a cup of coffee. I ordered something called the Hardison Hill or Hardison Mill. I can't really remember, but it was delicious and it was sweetened with the perfect blend of honey, vanilla and cinnamon. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of it. This is why I could never be a investigative reporter. But listen, the facts aren't important with a drink this delicious. Just describe it to the barista and they'll know what you're talking about.

And then, after you get your coffee, you'll want to continue your walk about town and check out the adorable shops. Tim got a few things at Southern Exposure, a clothing store for outdoorsy people. We browsed around Oak and Lace, it's a super cute shop with different vendors selling things like handmade jewelry, decor, clothing and tons more. And of course we stopped in at Lilly Jane boutique. This was my favorite shop. They have everything a great boutique should have: adorable clothing, accessories, stationary, jewelry, homegoods and even a children's section (with BlaBla dolls!).

We also went into a health foods store and bought some ear candles! But that's a whole different blog post.

After all that shopping and walking, we had worked up an appetite so we grabbed a late lunch at the Square Market. It was just delicious and it's one of those places you can tell has lots of regulars. I highly recommend it!

I wonder where our adventure will lead us next Saturday!

Di

Farewell Davenport Boulevard

So, we bought a house. My new commute consists of winding country roads, chickens in the road and lots of traffic. But I love it.

Moving into our new house was a little bittersweet for me though. I'm one of those sentimental people who hates change. So even though I was really tired of tiny apartment living, I was sad to leave our first home together. For two years, this was the place where we learned a lot about each other and grew together.

This is where we had our routines and rituals. Where we laughed a lot and disagreed a little. Had coffee table picnics at dinner every night because we didn't have a kitchen table. Had friends over to play board games and family dinners on Sundays. Where we woke up early one day to a living room flood. We had our first Christmases and Tim had shingles.

We had lazy Saturday mornings with lots of coffee. I did a million loads of laundry and cooked dinners with Tim. And the living room was always a mess because that's where I did all of my projects.

I have the best memories from our first home but I know the memories we make in our new home will be even better. Here's to the next chapter!

My cousin Brittany is an amazing photographer, she captured our home perfectly. Be sure to follow her on Instagram!

I can't wait to show you our new home and share the adventures of home ownership! I'm sure there are alot of DIY and decorating posts ahead.
