Winter is Coming.

Oh did you think this post was going to be about Game of Thrones? It's not. Although I'm sure that Jon Snow and everyone in the Night's Watch would really appreciate these tips because it's freezing up on that wall. Anyway.

The weather has gotten colder here in Tennessee and I've already got the dry skin around my nose, and on my ring finger from my ring, and chapped lips. So basically my life is awesome. But you know what I always say, "the best offense is a good defense". You've heard me say that before right?

So, it's time to hit the impending doom of winter head on and since we can't change the weather, might as well prevent the irritating effects it has on our skin.

If your skin is dry, exfoliate. This gets rid of those pesky dead skin cells. Here is a recipe for homemade scrub from a post I shared last year:

Take 1/2 cup of coconut oil andΒ 3/4 cup brown sugar.

Scoop the coconut oil into a microwave safe dish, microwave until it’s melted into liquid form.

Stir in the brown sugar and scrub a dub dub.

Then..

Moisturize. This is a no-brainer but some of those lotions out there have so many harsh chemicals, they end up doing more harm than good. I recently picked up some of this 'Skin Food' by Weleda and it cleared up the dryness on my hands in no time and it smells so refreshing!

Also, try my homemade coconut oil moisturizer. I put it on before I go to bed at night and it really helps with the dryness around my nose and mouth.

And if you're like me and you suffer from chapped lips from kissing your husband too much, okay not really but it definitely doesn't help, you need to skip the Chapstick and get with this Burt's Bees Soothing Lip Balm. It's the best stuff I've ever used.

Okay, there you have it folks. Don't say I didn't warn you. Winter is coming. And fall is here and it's freezing.

XOXO,
